Mystery Bag Left Near Lisbon Hospital Contains €38,000 and 1,500 Ecstasy Pills

A bag containing cash, savings certificates, and ecstasy found in Lisbon.

Growing suspicious of the abandoned item in the Alvalade neighborhood, the worker retrieved the bag and handed it over to the Public Security Police (PSP).

Inside, authorities found a bizarre mix of heavy finances and illicit narcotics. The stash contained €22,000 in cash alongside 11 savings certificates valued at approximately €16,000.

Whoever left the bag behind also abandoned two cell phones and exactly 1,510 individual doses of ecstasy.

Tracing the Stash

Lisbon’s metropolitan police command is now working to untangle the peculiar discovery. The combined financial value of the cash and certificates totals around €38,000.

Investigators have launched an operation to identify the owner and determine exactly why the high-value bag was dumped outside a medical facility.

Detectives are currently analyzing the two seized phones and the financial documents. Their primary focus is establishing the exact link between the massive sum of legitimate currency and the commercial quantity of synthetic drugs.
