Leaving the club’s facilities in a car driven by his mother, the 20-year-old was overcome with emotion. He broke down in tears behind the passenger window, entirely unable to articulate a word to the waiting reporters.
A Family’s Heartbreak
The emotional toll of the abrupt exit weighed heavily on the young player’s entire family. Speaking on the Spanish radio show El Partidazo de Cope, his father, Ramón, captured their collective heartbreak.
“Have you seen the boy and his mother? He went to his locker to get his things… and we are having a hard time,” Ramón confessed through tears.
Despite the immediate pain of leaving his boyhood club, Ramón emphasized his son’s resilience. “Once he starts training, he is going to give it his all. He will make the people at Racing very happy, I am sure of it,” he added.
The Search for Minutes on the Pitch
The deal materialized at the eleventh hour. According to his father, the possibility of a transfer only surfaced mid-afternoon, keeping the family waiting anxiously until the final details were secured late into the night.
Ultimately, the transfer came down to a critical need for playing time. Real Betis boasts a deeply stacked roster this season, making it difficult for a rising talent to secure consistent minutes.
“At 20 years old, what interested him most this year was trying to play as much as possible,” Ramón explained. “We know the incredible squad we have here and the sheer number of great players. We had to choose between staying to enjoy whatever minutes fell his way, or finding a way out to relaunch his career.”
